This week, year 5 took part in a project called Energy Heroes. Following a KS2 assembly about renewable energy, year 5 took part in a quest to become ‘energy heroes.’ This mathematics and science project is funded by Northern Power Grid, the company responsible for the network which delivers electricity to 3.9 million homes and businesses across the region. The project is aimed at improving data handling and mathematics skills amongst the children, as well as developing their understanding of how energy is used and where it comes from.

Over the course of 6 lessons, an Energy Hero assembly, an eco-audit of the school and some preparations for a community energy stall or event, the year 5s will explore where energy is used at home and in school.
